Well, that didn’t take anything LIKE 24 to 72 hours!

KoboBooks.com had my books ready for sale last night on their site!

Here’s the links:

A Moonlit Stroll

A Fine Cast of Characters By: J. Dane Tyler

Now, I don’t know why that cover for AFCC is so UGLY, but be sure I’m letting Kobo know about it. I’ve even replaced it and it didn’t do any good. So for what it’s worth, there they are!

Thanks and please, spread the word!

My two collections of short stories, A Fine Cast of Characters and A Moonlit Stroll, are both now even CHEAPER and EASIER than ever!

Yes, like their author, my two collections of short stories for sale on Amazon’s Kindle store and soon, on KoboBooks.com, are now only $1.99! That’s a full dollar less than it was before!

Go and get yours today!

And, if you enjoy the stories, please be sure to leave a review on either Amazon, GoodReads, Shelfari, or anywhere else you can reach an audience!

…but if you don’t like ’em and think they stink, please don’t leave me a bad review. It hurts my feelings and makes me cwy. (Just kidding.)

Thanks, and spread the word! 😉

In the next 24-72 hours, my short story collections, A Fine Cast of Characters and A Moonlit Stroll will be available for purchase as epub files from KoboBooks.com!

As of now, I don’t have any links to provide, but when I do, you can be sure I’ll pimp them everywhere I can.

OH, and before I forget: I’ve lowered the price, too! I can’t get the higher percentages from Amazon that way, but Kobo is generously offering 70% royalties at the new, lower price…which is the only price on that site, but still. So, we’ll see how the experimentation in pricing goes.

If things go well with Kobo, I’ll probably publish in both places every time. I didn’t get anything, at all, from Barnes and Noble’s Nook store, so I’m not thrilled about that prospect, and Smashwords seems to stink, so I’ll likely just stick with these three. And…

Tam is a curious soul. When she overhears some small town teens talk about a monster in a nearby lake, it’s more than she can resist. Then she finds out the lake has been closed for years. The town’s drying up because of it, and plenty of people have gone missing on or near that lake. What’s happening, and why? Is the monster legend real?

When Tam tries to unearth the truth, the lake ranger steps in to put a stop to her digging. But Tam’s never been one to just give up and go home. She’ll find out what’s happening at Siren Lake, or die trying.

My newest release, Siren Lake, is now live on Amazon’s Kindle store for a paltry 99 cents (as opposed to the 99 dollars I erroneously tagged it with before)!

Once again, here’s the blurb and link:

J. Dane Tyler

Today, in honor of the almost-launch of Siren Lake, a short story I’m releasing as a stand-alone today (or whenever I can get it priced correctly and published, oy!), I’m offering FREE stories on Amazon’s Kindle store today only!

Remember Me:

Remember Me

She danced under the full moon, a vision of beauty and romance from the ocean’s frothing waves. The moon struck in her eyes and captivated me. Before long, our hearts beat as one. But something forlorn lurked just beneath her beauty, something which grew stronger as the moon waned.

I fell in love with her, hopeless and deep. But the moon grew stronger in her eyes even as it faded in the sky toward new, and she insisted I know her. I dig into my memories but she’s not there. And how, oh how under Heaven, could I forget the only person I’ve ever loved like this?

Some good advice, on bad advice.

DarcKnyt

question-markI have a book on my tablet which is all about how to write the opening of your novel or story. The goal, of course, is to produce a hook which draws the reader in and gets them excited about your story right away.

It’s good advice. Except…it’s not.

See, the problem with a great hook is, you have to somehow follow that up with lots of other great hooks. You need a hook to get them into the story, then another to get them to the next act, and you need a great story question which is brought on by the inciting incident and/or first plot point, and you have to have a great hook halfway through the second act’s first half to hurl the reader on to the midpoint, which has to have a great hook to keep them going to the next hook…

One problem with advice…

J. Dane Tyler

I’m honored to have a great young pulp author today posting fiction here on my nest o’ nightmares! This piece comes direct from author Bryce Beattie, from StoryHack.com, and author of the zombie-pulp novels Oasis and The Journey of St. Laurent.

So, without further ado, let’s have some noir! Take it away, Bryce!

Brick Work

People tiptoe through my office door all the time burdened with questions to which they do not really want to know the answer. If they also come through the door carrying enough lettuce for a three day retainer, then we do business. It’s not usually easy, it’s often dangerous, and it almost always requires getting more than a little dirty. Ah, well, it’s work. Brick work. That’s my idea of a joke. You see, my name’s Brick Baines, and I’m a…
